The simple answer is yes, of course! Everyone should have a Will. Obviously, getting a Will is not a subject many people like to talk about, especially young people, but is something that is very important to have done as soon as you can, even if you are single and currently have no children. First, it is important because it gives you control over your assets and what you want done with them in the event of your untimely passing. In addition to a Last Will and Testament (Will), a Financial Power of Attorney and Advance Medical Directive are also vital in order to protect your financial and medical interests in the event that you are ever incapacitated and unable to make financial or medical decisions for yourself. These documents will allow your designated agent(s) to act on your behalf when you are unable to act for yourself by reason of incapacity or otherwise (e.g., overseas on deployment, but house needs to be sold immediately).
