Fatal Crash In Maryland Still Under Investigation

When a traumatic incident occurs, it's natural for people to want answers as to why the incident happened. But it can often take some time to get to determine why an accident occurred, particularly if the cause of the incident is not completely obvious. Especially following an auto accident, it can take time and effort to figure out why the car collision occurred.

For instance, a recent fatal collision that happened in Maryland is still under investigation. The crash involved three vehicles after one of the vehicles lost control on the highway. After crossing the median, the first car struck the second car, and then hit a third car. Investigators ruled out alcohol as a contributing factor in the crash, but officials indicated it could take time to figure out the exact cause. Investigators are currently awaiting autopsy results of the deceased individuals involved in the crash.

Aside from a person's general desire to know what happened, the results of an accident investigation can be very important in determining whether an injured person can recover damages from the other party in a lawsuit. This is because a lawsuit is typically based on the other driver's negligence, and therefore it is essential to prove that the driver's negligence was the cause of the person's injuries.

If something other than a person's negligence caused the accident, there might not be a cause of action to assert. On the other hand, if defects in the vehicle caused the crash, there might be a separate cause of action against the car manufacturer. As such, individuals who are injured should work with a personal injury attorney to determine whether they have a cause of action for their injuries, and how to best proceed with a claim.
