Madeline Spencer, an associate at SBWD Law, joined the firm in the summer of 2023. Madeline brings a unique perspective to SBWD Law as she specializes in representing police officers throughout every stage of administrative proceedings while also contributing to the firm’s civil litigation practice, particularly in cases of sexual assault and abuse. Madeline has a profound commitment to justice and a passion for advocating on behalf of those in need.
Madeline earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland where she focused her studies on Government and Politics and Criminal Justice. During college, Madeline worked simultaneously as a research assistant to an Associate Dean, where she studied Supreme Court cases, and as a Congressional Intern on Capitol Hill.
Madeline continued her studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore Law School. In a transformative 1L summer, Madeline held three positions. Madeline served as an intern for the Honorable Judge Kevin Wilson, research assistant to one of her UMB professors, and intern at the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office. Madeline’s dynamic and busy summer solidified her interest in working with victims of sexual abuse and commitment to public service. Ultimately, Madeline was offered a full-time position at the State’s Attorney’s Office where she continued as a law clerk in the Sex Offense and Child Abuse Division.
Upon passing the bar, Madeline began her career as a prosecutor in Baltimore County. There, Madeline led court dockets and honed her trial skills. Working every day with both victims and police officers, Madeline developed a deep understanding of the nuances around each individual case and how to approach each situation with empathy, sensitivity, and steadfast commitment to her clients.
In her free time, Madeline enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, and cheering on the Baltimore Ravens.
